My WAG#2

Mar 10, 2009

My post for the Writing Adventure Group!

The idea was to sit somewhere and look around, and then write about something you hadn’t noticed at first.  Although this was supposed to be observational, it brought to mind a lot of other things, so I just let it go wherever.  Like most writers, I’m not that big on rules!

A thin smear of white in the sky like leftover wax on a pale blue fender.  The plane too far to see anything more than this leftover trail, but I know its there with its overhead compartments and emergency rows.  Packed to bursting with black wheeled luggage.  Somewhere up there is the vegetarian meal requested by one but given to another.  I sit a mile below and wonder where they’re going.

  1. Interesting trip! :)

It’s fun dreaming yourself along with a plane or train that rushes past, I love how your piece captures that

  3. Love your first line, Nixy. Beautiful.

  4. *packed to bursting with black wheeled luggage* Love it! I also love the saga of the vegetarian meal. Some poor vegetarian is eating “just salad” again. :)

  5. Ah, a nostalgic piece – they serve meals! ;)

It is neat to look at something and have it run away with your imagination. I look at trains very much the same way.

Enjoying these WAGs by the way.

Sometimes, I don’t care where it’s going, I want to go there too.
I got a sense of a longing for an adventure, just out of your grasp. Daydreaming of exotica. You described it so well … except you forgot to mention the three screaming babies – de rigueur on any flight nowadays.
