Research
One of the things that WAG has helped me see, is that there is nothing like actually looking at a place… feeling it, smelling it, and being in the middle of it… to help a writer set a scene.
Yesterday I went to Aberlemno where there are some beautiful examples of Pictish stones and also to Restenneth Priory, which was built by the king of the Picts in about 715 AD. (Both places are just outside of Forfar, Scotland.) I took some pictures and made some notes for my story, and as I looked around, I could see Eilidh (my faery character in Between) in this setting, and it made it all come alive for me. A wonderful experience!
Thought I’d share some of the photos:

Saw this on the ground outside the Priory. Thought it was very beautiful, but I have no idea what kind of bird has feathers like that! Anyone know?

Stunning photos! One day I’m going to get over there to bask in the past!
Amazing pictures! Absolutely gorgeous!
Very lovely shots indeed! Wish I were there! I once went on a wine-tasting research trip. Unfortunately, the wine wasn’t very good.
But the tour was helpful.
Beautiful pictures! How I wish I could have joined you. What a gorgeous place!
