Agent Orange (WAG)

Jun 2, 2009

Well, Jon complained that I was an amateur at cheating on Writing Adventure Group posts, so I’m going one step further this week to prove to him that I can cheat as well as he can. The assignment was to write how something should have been.

I really should have been born as my sweetheart’s cat (she’s spoiled rotten). If there is such a thing as reincarnation, I do hope that’s one of the options so I can rectify what was obviously a routing error when I was in transit to this mortal world.

To add to my cheatiness, I’ve written my WAG entry as a poem. I hope you can see why I like the look of her life. I’m not really a very good poet, but I like doing it anyway.

Summer breeze sends grass seeds flying
In the bush stalks Agent Orange
Dart hither. Fly thither.

Yawn. Sun spot calls.

Rays beat upon cool clover
Roll over and stretch. Sway and pose.
Upside down fearless world.

Look. A butterfly.

Haunches spring without preamble
Dance on tiptoe. Chase the wings.
Up a trunk and down a fence.

Ooh. Pond on a Pedestal.

Balance well and sip lick sip.
Perkéd ears hear housewife
shout shoo shoo shoo shoo

Another calls Here Kitty Kitty.

Hope it’s tuna. Run.

  1. Aw, that was cute Nixy! She sounds like a wonderful reincarnation. ;-)

  2. This sounds a lot like my dear friend still living at my Mom’s place – he always perks up at the sound of a can opener, even if it isn’t tuna!

  3. Touché, Nixy. Touché. I bow before you.

I like your poem. Nicely done. Flows well and made me smile.

Personally, I want to come back as a billionaire. ;)

  4. Good cheating there! Loved the contented cat in the warm grass images.
If there’s something like reincarnation I’m lucky I’m not a cockroach this go round from what I can tell of my karma. Being a cat I think would be a great compliment. They’re way above humans in my esteem.

  5. A friend of ours has two Cavalier King Charles Spaniels – I’ve often said that my next reincarnation will be as one of his dogs!

Am not a great poetry fan, but really liked yours – great visual images.

  6. Love the sense of the ever present in the brevity of the lines. Last line made me smile. I can see the attraction of being a cat if this is all they have to worry about.

  7. Hi Nixy, Loved this! I bow to your poetry talent as mine is worse than horrid. :)

Oh, to be a beloved pet. It’s the life, isn’t it?

  8. Yes, I am lame for just commenting now, I know. Love it! I want a cat! But you are a cheater, you know.
