The Snake and the Snack
I love finding weird news on the web. It’s one of the best functions of the internet: to bring oddness to our doorsteps… err… desktops.
Anyway, I clicked on this article because of the title “Snake Befriends Snack-Hamster”. It made me laugh out loud. Partly because that describes how I feel this morning… like a snack hamster. In fact, I’m going to do everything I can to make “snack-hamster” part of my family’s lexicon.
Snake ‘befriends’ snack hamster
A rodent-eating snake and a hamster have developed an unusual bond at a zoo in the Japanese capital, Tokyo.
Their relationship began in October last year, when zookeepers presented the hamster to the snake as a meal.
The rat snake, however, refused to eat the rodent. The two now share a cage, and the hamster sometimes falls asleep sitting on top of his natural foe.
Yes, from now on, when people say, “So, ND, how are ya?” The answer could very likely be “a bit like a snack-hamster”. I do find it heartening that things worked out so well for this particular snack-hamster though. Maybe there’s a lesson in that.

He looked too big to eat, anyways! Very cute
No doubt, there’s a link in a previous life/ lives.
I love this! Sometimes you need a friend more than a meal, I guess
That’s exactly my relationship with LIFE, in my heart of hearts…I’m the snack-hamster, a’course. That is the first analogy ever to aptly describe me/life. If you’re ever curious about what’s going on in the hamster’s head, ask me.
