ND140

Well, I’ve decided to go ahead with it. Yes, I’m going to start posting flash fiction (aka Twiction, aka micro-fiction) on Twitter. My new account for this is ND140

I thought I’d be obsessing over every word, as I would if I were writing a poem, but there’s something so nice and easy about the Twitter format. Less pressure, perhaps. More casual?

Not that I don’t care about what I’m writing… I suppose I’m just not that worried about writing something great. Instead I’m just trying to capture a moment or idea.

So, don’t click if you’re expecting great literature. Heh. But do click (and follow) to share a brief, fictional journey.

I plan to post a wee something every day, but am also keeping it low-pressure. Just a spot of writerly enjoyment. I do hope you’ll join me.

Here are my micro-offerings so far!

They told her she’d feel the joy of motherhood once the baby was finally born. Mostly she thought it smelled weird.

She handed the tramp the $5 she’d brought for a meager lunch, but only so he wouldn’t think her too poor for generosity.

She ransacked reluctant memories. What color had his eyes been? Odd how her heart had bled when he left.

  1. I love all three of them! Is the tramp a man? And I ransack reluctant memories now and then as well.

  2. Thanks, Aubrie! That’s the trouble with these micro-stories. There’s really no way to expand beyond a glimpse. I’m finding it an interesting challenge though!
