This has been a real week of ups and downs with my writing. The wordcount on Wildings is going steadily up, and its taking shape, but my characters are giving me hell and even though the plot is outlined, I am not entirely certain how I’m going to get them there from here.
I have added a page to the blog for My Fiction, where you can see what my current projects are and where I am. Will update as I develop workable blurbs for the new stuff. If you have any comments or suggestions about what you see there, please do let me know! I’m always open to feedback.
And… a bit about Twitter. If you follow me on Twitter, you know I love it. One thing I’m not so wild about though: #followfriday. I do like to recommend folks I follow, but A. every freaking week I forget it’s friday, so I have to scramble to put names together, and B. I hate feeling like I’m leaving people out and C. I hate it when people I follow post 20 tweets in a row with names they’re recommending. It’s eye-spammy. I’ve hovered my fingers over the ‘unfollow’ button on a few people who do this, and I don’t want to tempt my followers to do the same to me. I figure I’m on thin ice with them most of the time anyway.
So what I’ve done is create a follow-friday twitter list. If you’re looking for fun, interactive tweeps, then follow them. Most of them are writers, all of them are active, and some of them regularly cause me to guffaw and make other unladylike noises.
I also have received some blog awards recently, which makes me feel all warm and squishy, but slightly awkward (which I usually feel when people are saying nice things about me to other people) and I wanted to note my thanks. My new friend and crit partner Sangu Mandanna gave me a Prolific Blogger award, Crystal Cook gave me a Sweet Blogger award (yes, really… shut up), and Talli Rolland gave me a Soulmates award. Thank you!
So this was my week! How was yours?

I'm a lot of other things, but mostly I'm a writer. I like books with fast action, scary killers, fantasy worlds, and a dash of romance. Maybe even all four at once. To see what types of books I write, click "Fantasy Series" in the nav bar. -- To get in touch with me, click Contact India and send me an email.
Congratulations on your awards. I’m not on Twitter, but I can see how it would seem more invasive than seeing a a list of recommended blog on a post.
Yeah, what’s up with that, Theresa! It’s not as time-consuming as you think. I generally just have Tweetdeck (the program I use to organise and access Twitter) open when I’m doing email and bloggie stuff, and then I shut it off when I’m writing.
It’s fun! Tweet, dammit!

Congrats on your awards! I haven’t gotten on twitter for the simple reason that my hubby is ready to hang me out to dry with the amount of time I already spend on the internet.

Wow – what a full week you’ve had!
Good luck with the twittering thing – I haven’t a clue what you just explained there as I’m twitter free and twitter less but it sounds hip n happening!
I’ve just had a gander on your My Fiction page – I really like how Ordinary Angels starts.
Good luck with your writing!
Take care

Congrats on your escalating word count and your awards! I’m not on twitter. I have enough to do with just my blogger friends!
My week was good.
And one of these days I will set up a Twitter account.

Congrats on the awards! You know you’re my snark soulmate.

Yeah? Well, I’ve written more THAN YOU this week. Unhappily, it is finals week, I’d two, count ‘em, two batches of essays and the words I’ve written mostly began with, “WHAT THE HELL WERE YOU THINKING? *&^% $#$#^% )*&!~~~”
Those count? o, be like that. Actually, I’ve been in my jammies 24/3, goin’ for 7.
Congratulations on modestly NOT posting the awards on your website.

I’m still learning the whole twitter thing, still not entirely sure what I’m doing!!!
Yay on the great WIP work!! Silly characters need to behave and I find that sometimes the journey is best when you are just along for the ride!

Sounds like you’re moving along with the WIP, anyways. Mine is moving slowly, but I’m hoping it will pick up soon.
Those incessant follow Friday lists drive me nuts too, especially when they start on Thursday nights (though I know some of that is people in other time zones). I normally only do a couple of “mass tweets”, and then my follow Friday Re-tweets…I figure that’s far more helpful since people can see *why* they might want to follow someone I recommend. I never feel bad about *not* including someone…do people really expect me to post the names of all 891 followers every Friday? Not gonna happen. Interesting tweets make the re-tweet list. That’s it.
That’s when I’m not too busy, of course. Some Fridays, I just don’t have time.
I’ll have to check out your list…

All sounds good, even the uncooperative characters. I take that as a good sign that the writing is alive and dynamic. Always good if a writer can listen to their characters instead of just bossing them around (though you do need to stay in charge).

Congrats on upping your word count and your awards! I understand exactly what you mean about #followfriday
Have a great weekend!
Congrats on the awards.
I’m putting off Twittering for as long as I can. Just one more time commitment that will suck me in.
Have a great weekend!
You’re welcome! You always right brilliant stuff, and I love checking back to see if you’ve got new posts up.
Just been reading more about your projects on the ‘My Fiction’ page. Cannot WAIT to read some of that!

Congrats on the awards!
I totally forget it’s Fridays and therefore don’t do the #FF thing. I have plenty of folks I could recommend, but I forget.

You’ll be happy to know I went to a workshop that talked about the benefits of Twitter and I’m pretty sure I’ll set up an account this week. Yeah, almost pretty sure.
