Spec Fiction Reading Challenge

A Twitter friend of mine, Amanda Rutter from Floor to Ceiling Books, has started an online reading challenge that I thought would be fun. It’s a speculative fiction reading challenge, and all you have to do to participate is try to read twelve spec fiction novels in a year. That won’t be much of a challenge for me, because when I get in a reading groove, I can read two or three books in a week. However, I think it will be a great way to meet other people who like sci-fi, urban fantasy, and paranormal, which are my faves right now.

So, if you’re like me and like your books with a bit of a supernatural twist, consider signing up for this challenge. It should be fun, and you’ll probably get some good book recommendations out of it as well. I read a lot. And I mean A LOT. Even when I’m writing, I find that I need to escape from my own worlds, and dip my brain into someone else’s, just for a change of pace. Although when I’m writing, sometimes I prefer something with a good serial killer in it. Don’t ask.

Have you ever tried a reading group? Either in person, or one that meets online? I attended a local readers group for a few weeks once, and it was a bit of a disaster. But that’s a whole other story…

    I can’t resist reading challenges that don’t require me to change my reading habits, so I’m signing up too. It will, of course, mean that I gain a whole new subsection of the TBR pile from other people’s recommendations. Look forward to reading yours…

    I just joined this challenge as well. It sounds easy enough if you’re a regular speculative fiction reader.
