Writing Adventure Group
This is an open, online writers’ group. Anyone may participate. It’s helpful if you have a blog, but if you don’t have one, you can always get a free blog from someplace like blogger.com.
Our purpose is to build a community of writers who help and support each other, and to hone our observational and writing skills by interacting with each other and the world around us.
Here’s how it works:
- Adventures should take you 5-10 minutes to complete! We’re going for short and easy. This should not be like having a part time job. You may post your results as a few lines, or a few paragraphs. See previous WAG posts here.
- You will typically have one week from the time the instructions are posted to add your own exercise to the listing. The ending date is listed on each post, just after the topic.
- I’ve recently switched to using LinkyTools’ Blog Hop to list all participants. So, after you post your results, return to the Instruction post for that week, and go to the bottom of the post. Click on the link that says CLICK HERE TO ENTER and enter the direct link for your post (not just your main blog link, please). IN THE LINK TITLE FIELD, PLEASE INCLUDE YOUR NAME.
- To add the “blog hop” listing to your own blog and allow your readers to find other WAG posts on the same topic, return to the Instructions Post for that week, go to the LinkyTools section, and click GET THE CODE HERE. Cut and paste the javascript in the box into the HTML section of your blog. (Some blogs do not allow javascript. If this is the case, you will have to simply link to the Instruction post.) In hosted wordpress blogs, you MUST paste in HTML mode for the code to work. If you have any questions or problems, please write to me!
- Use Twitter, FB status, myspace, your blog, etc to announce your own writing adventure! On Twitter, use the hashtag #WAG to designate Writing Adventure Group posts.
- Invite your writing friends to join! All writers/bloggers are welcome.
- To be notified of future WAG exercises, join our Facebook group!
Rules
Well, there really aren’t any. This is an experience, not a classroom. There is no wrong way to do this!
To get the most out of the group, visit the other participants’ blogs and comment! Everyone loves comments and feedback.
If you have an idea for an adventure or have questions or comments about the group, write to india AT indiadrummond DOT com or fill out the contact form.
♥ Special thanks to Marsha for helping me start this adventure! ♥
